My Story

From 1994-1999, I had been working as a Project Engineer for a Fortune 500 company. It paid the bills but I simply didn’t have any passion for it. I decided to make a major career change in order to pursue my passion to help others. By the Grace of Allah, in 2002, I obtained a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine and became a Board Certified Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.

I continued to help patients for several years using natural methods. I reached a comfort zone where I knew I could help patients with certain conditions. Then in 2017, life threw a curve ball at me as I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism and the next year I noticed white spots appearing on my skin that were diagnosed as vitiligo. Just when I thought I knew what I was doing and I could help most patients, I realized I needed to look in the mirror and actually help myself.

I decided to take additional training in “Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice” hosted by the Institute for Functional Medicine. I learned the root causes of autoimmune disease and studied related diagnostics and treatment methods. Most of all, however, I learned to apply these teachings in my own life and, by the Grace of Allah, was able to put a halt to the spread of these autoimmune diseases and get my life back in control.

I gained new appreciation for the power of natural healing methods and began to implement them with patients who had autoimmune conditions and other complex cases. Years later, I have continued to helped patients in ways I never imagined before and, most importantly, I have continued to learn the art of listening and learning from patients and practicing compassion.
